LOCAL COUNCILLOR HELPS TACKLE LONG TERM FLOODING ISSUE

Annandale North Councillor Graeme Tait has helped tackle a long term flooding problem that has been affecting the residents of Park Place, Lockerbie.

During bouts of heavy rain, the water runs down from the hill, through the field and into the properties.  After the issues was reported to him,  Councillor Tait worked with council officials and the owner of the field to come up with a solution which will see the council dig a ditch in the field.  This will act as a drain and prevent the water from getting into the properties.

Councillor Tait said:

“I am glad we have been able to come up with a solution that works for all the parties involved.  A number of my constituents in Park Place have had to put with regular flooding for far too long.  We regularly experience bouts of heavy rain which for these residents means the fear of losing possessions and damage to their properties.  This new ditch means they should have nothing left to fear.”
