LOCAL MSP SUCCESSFULLY PUSHES FOR LOCHARBRIGGS VILLAGE HALL PEDESTRIAN CROSSING

Dumfriesshire MSP Elaine Murray has successfully pushed Transport Scotland into providing a signalised pedestrian crossing adjacent to Locharbriggs Village Hall.

Concerns from a number of local residents, who were worried about children having no safe place to cross the road to the village hall, led to Elaine making a request to Transport Scotland to consider the site for a pedestrian crossing in September.

Transport Scotland intend to carry out the work in early 2016/2017.

Dumfriesshire MSP Elaine Murray said:

“This is a welcome move by Transport Scotland. Locharbriggs Village Hall is being used more frequently for community events year on year, particularly for baby and toddler groups. The local community and local parents were rightfully concerned with the lack of safe crossings currently available, and so this will definitely bring peace of mind. Hopefully the work being carried out by Scotland TranServ next year will be fairly swift, resulting in as few disruptions as possible.”
