MSP URGES ACTION ON PENPONT TRAFFIC ISSUES

Dumfriesshire MSP Elaine Murray has met with David Drife, one of the residents of Pringleton, Penpont regarding the traffic problems in the village and is urging action to address the issues.

Elaine Murray said:

“Mr Drife showed me photographs demonstrating that very large vehicles are using this route through Penpont including lowloaders carrying combine harvesters and heavy forestry equipment. One night Mr Drife even observed a very large vehicle carrying a section of a wind turbine which had virtually got stuck outside his home..

“There has also been some significant damage to properties caused by large vehicles striking walls and railings because there is insufficient room to for them to pass parked cars..

“I know there have been discussions between the Council and local people regarding these problems and that has not been easy to find a solution. However I hope that this most recent incident, which could have cause very serious injury if anyone had been in the vicinity at the time, will encourage a re-examination of the possibilities, and have urged the Council to seek a solution.”
