Stranraer and North Rhins Councillor Marion McCutcheon has welcomed the awarding of £350,000 to Stranraer harbour so that the partially collapsed quay wall can be repaired
The decision was announced at yesterday’s (Tuesday 10 September) meeting of the Council’s Planning, Housing and Environment Services committee.
Commenting on the announcement Councillor McCutcheon said:
“Earlier in the year emergency work had to be carried out to prevent further movement in the wall. However, we knew that it was just a stop gap until a permanent solution could be found, so Im pleased that funding has been agreed. I just hope that work can begin early next year as that wall is likely to get hit hard by the winter weather. The current state of the wall is just another example of the run down state of the area and highlights the desperate need for Scottish Government investment in the area "
