VICTORY! AS DECISION PAVES WAY FOR RE-OPENING OF LOREBURN HALL

Commenting on the decision today (3 September 2013) by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Policy and Resources Committee to agree to re-open the Loreburn Hall as part of plans to provide temporary alternatives when DGOne closes, Committee member and Nith Ward Labour Councillor Colin Smyth said:-

“I am delighted this decision has paved the way forward for opening of the Loreburn hall. It has been a long battle but this is a real victory for the community of Dumfries who have made clear that they wanted to see the hall back in use for the good of the town. I believe there are a number of groups who would use the hall and I’m looking forward to seeing the hall return as an asset at the heart of our community.”

The proposal to re-open the Hall will now go to the Dumfries Common Good Sub Committee to be considered by members of the Committee.
